Mark your calenders now, the holiday’s get busy fast. We had a GREAT turnout last year and TONS of fun! We’ll definitely be playing another round of Telephone Pictonary!

Next meeting

October is RIGHT around the corner! Have you started The Hound of the Baskervilles yet? If so, what do you think?! It was hard for me to put down! And I’ll admit I wasn’t sure “who dun it” until it was revealed. 🙂 But I’m not sure I had full brain cell power while reading it… I finished it the day before Lydia was born! 🙂

Our meeting to discuss is going to be
October 19th at 7:00pm

location TBD… If anyone has a suggestion of a location or would like to host let me know.

For those like me who like to know what’s coming up, here are the next few books planned… (or if you’d like to PBSwap/Bookmooch them!)

The Code of the Woosters by P.G. Wodehouse for December (this will probably be in early December, the same time as our Christmas Party!)

The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas for February

Muslims Christians and Jesus by Carl Medearis for April

feeling sleuth-like?

As you have heard, October’s book is The Hound of the Baskervilles by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. It is staring the great detective Sherlock Holmes (and of course his trusty sidekick Dr. Watson!)

Do you have a copy of the book yet? Amazon has it new for only $4.95 right now. And as low as $1.44 used!

After you track down the book, here’s a helpful tool to help you figure out who dun-it.

It might be a good thing to fold and keep as a bookmark. You can use it to keep track of clues and suspects. Remembering that nothing has been put in this story on accident, clues could be everywhere.

(I found the detective log on Masterpiece Theater’s site.)

“Now is the dramatic moment of fate, when you hear a step upon the stair
which is walking into your life, and you know not whether for good or ill.”
— Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, The Hound of the Baskervilles

October’s book

We were small in numbers for our meeting on Monday, but it was a good time of muffins, iced mango tea and of course talk of Asher Lev!

If you couldn’t make it and still like to hear some discussion on it head over to Midday Connections Book Club site. They read the book back in November of 07 and you can still access the audio archives for it and hear the broadcast.

Our next book for October is The Hound of the Baskervilles by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. If you aren’t familiar with this author… maybe Sherlock Holmes will ring a bell! It’s a mystery featuring the one and only Holmes and Dr Watson.

Amazon currently has it for $3.99! Buy it now for some fun detective Fall reading!

I hope you can find some time to read this one and we’ll see you in October!!
Happy Reading,
Sarah
