Our next book is a mystery by Harry Kemelman, Monday the Rabbi Took Off. We’ll be meeting to discuss it on September 20th. This one promises to be a lighter read.
Author Archives: Broadened Horizons
July’s book
C.S. Lewis’ autobiography Surprised by Joy. Busy summer schedules brought only four of us together this time. More good food, friends, fellowships and of course book discussion!
I’m trying to vary the type of books we read to broaden our horizons! 🙂 The language made this book a bit more difficult for me. Lewis increased his knowledge by reading and it looks like so will I. I like many of his other fiction works so it was neat to see a glimpse into his life and testimony.
Our first book…
Our first book was Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World by Joanna Weaver. In May, five of us met together at the park for brunch and discussion. I really enjoyed this book. It was a fairly quick read, but full of insights into heart matters. It really helped me take a closer look at my priorities in my daily life.
